Too Young for ED? What To Do When Erectile and Sexual Dysfunction Affect Young Men

Thanks for tuning in to the Armor Men’s Health Hour Podcast today, where we bring you the latest and greatest in medical and urology care and the best urology humor out there.

In this segment,  Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee discuss erectile dysfunction in young men. We all know ED is an issue many men face as they age. But what happens when you have symptoms of ED or sexual dysfunction in the "prime" of your sexual years? Dr. Mistry explains common complaints of young men, many of whom discover problems when they first begin to masturbate and/or have sex. Some of these issues are surprisingly simple to address, like frenulums that are too tight. Others may seem like physiological issues, but may in fact stem from psychological or sociocultural factors that can be treated with education and/or sex therapy. More than anything, if you're young and healthy, your sex life should be, too. If something seems wrong, it's always worth consulting with your primary care doctor and/or a urologist. Email our practice anytime with your anonymous questions and we'll get back to you!

Also in this episode is a review of the ever-popular topic of Peyronie's disease, the plaques that cause it, and the treatments available.

Ring in the New Year and Beat Erectile Dysfunction with a Penile Ring!

Thanks for tuning in to the Armor Men’s Health Hour Podcast today, where we bring you the latest and greatest in urology care and the best urology humor out there.

In this segment, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee answer a patient question about the use of penile rings. While the improper use of these accessories can cause serious and even permanent damage to the phallus and lead to erectile dysfunction, proper use can help patients maintain rigid erections longer without the side effects of medications like Viagra or Cialis. Importantly, the penile ring works by augmenting venous blood flow into and out of the penis, so it is crucial not to leave it on for more than 30-60 minutes. If you or a loved one have questions about penile rings and/or other accessories that can improve your sex life without the side effects and inconvenience of medications, please give us a call. We have specialists in all aspects of urologic care as well as an in-house sex therapist to help meet your needs.

Today's episode is a re-post of a segment originally aired on Sept. 5 2020, "Put a Penile Ring On It: Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee Answer a Listener Question About Penile Rings."

New Year, New Penis: Dr. Mistry on Penile Shrinkage and the "Cock-tail" of Treatments That Can Add Length and Girth to Your Penis

Thanks for tuning in to the Armor Men’s Health Hour Podcast today, where we bring you the latest and greatest in urology care and the best urology humor out there.

In this segment, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee explain the common occurrence of penile shrinkage in overweight and/or aging men. What Dr. Mistry refers to as "shrinking penis syndrome" can have different causes, but is often related to weight gain and/or low testosterone. To improve this condition, Dr. Mistry has developed a "cock-tail" of treatment modalities that combine to increase the length of the penis up to an inch and a half while also increasing the girth of the flaccid penis. This cocktail includes: spark wave therapy to improve the erectile bodies of the penis, use of a vacuum erection or penile tension device to add length, a daily dose of Tadalafil (Cialis) to increase blood flow, and the normalization of testosterone levels. Together, these treatments can help restore length to your penis lost to "shrinking penis syndrome."

Today's episode is a re-post of a segment originally aired on August 29, 2020, ""Shrinking Penis Syndrome" and Dr. Mistry's Treatment "Cock-tail" To Restore Penile Length."

Dr. Mistry is a board-certified urologist and has been treating patients in the Austin and Greater Williamson County area since he started his private practice in 2007.

Prostate Calcifications and Chronic Inflammation: What You Should Know About Your Prostate Results

Thanks for tuning in to the Armor Men’s Health Hour Podcast today, where we bring you the latest and greatest in urology care and the best urology humor out there.

In this segment, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee answer a listener's question: "I am 63. I had a prostate biopsy due to enlargement on one side, PSA of 2.27, no malignancy in any of the six samples, but with one sample, each showing prostatic duct calcification or chronic inflammation characterized by infiltrates of lymphocytes. PSA last week was 2.29. Does calcification inflammation tend to increase risks or mask future possible cancer growth? What is the best manner to gauge changes over the coming years with annual checkups? And does prostate exercise help improve any of these situations?" Once prostate cancer is ruled out, it becomes important to understand the cause of calcifications noted in the report. In this case, the body's natural inflammatory process is deployed in response to changes in the body. Any number of things can trigger the immune system to intervene--a prior infection, an injury, a blockage, etc. Fortunately, there should not be any increased risk of cancer development just because of this inflammatory process. If you were treated in a practice like ours, we would put you on an antiinflammatory kind of regimen, which includes some mild dietary changes like the addition of a curcumin and/or saw palmetto supplement. Finally, if you aren't in any pain from the inflammation of your prostate, there can be minimal intervention. If you are experiencing pain, a holistic treatment plan will be created that is designed to address various causes of the immune cascade and resulting inflammation. One rather fun method of treating the prostate is to "exercise" it by increasing the number of ejaculations you experience, whether through increased intercourse, routine masturbation, or both.

This segment is a re-post of the episode originally aired on Oct. 3, 2020 entitled, "Prostate Inflammation: Causes, Treatments, and Why Ejaculation Is Your Prostate's Best Friend."

If You Gotta Go, You Oughta' Know! Dr. Angela Treadway on Urge Incontinence vs. Stress Incontinence

Thanks for tuning in to the Armor Men’s Health Hour Podcast today, where we bring you the latest and greatest in urology care and the best urology humor out there.

In this segment,  NAU Urology Specialists' partner and pelvic floor physical therapist Dr. Angela Treadway talks urge incontinence with our very own Donna Lee. Dr. Treadway explains the types of incontinence that most people--both women and men--experience, including the difference between stress incontinence and urge incontinence. While stressors like coughing/sneezing might physically force urine out of the bladder, urge incontinence is more likely caused by the internal workings of the bladder. For example, bladder irritants found in common drinks such as coffee or diet sodas can trigger a contraction response in your bladder that gives you the urge to urinate, even if your bladder isn't actually full. Another example is "key in the keyhole" syndrome, which is an irresistible urge to empty the bladder triggered by proximity to a bathroom, regardless of how empty or full the bladder is. Regardless of the cause, if you or someone you love has ever experienced incontinence please give us a call today and let us help you restore your pelvic floor!
