Is There a Biblical Mandate to Be a Single-Issue Voter?

Episode 560 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

Show Notes

CoreChristianity.com

  1. 1. Can we take communion at home, and are we meant to do this once a week?

2. Is there a biblical mandate to be a single-issue voter? It seems that neither political party cares about all image bearers and we end up having to choose between one or the other.

3. I know I should forgive, but how do I forgive? What is that process like?

4. Based on Matthew 6:15, is the forgiveness of our sins conditional on whether we forgive others?

What You Should Know About the Deliverance Movement

Episode 559 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

Show Notes

CoreChristianity.com

1. I am feeling really burnt out serving in ministry. I am an elder in my church, I work full time, and I feel like I am constantly giving and giving to others without any break or time to regroup. I know scripture commends us to sacrificially serve the church, but I am just feeling exhausted by it all. Any practical and spiritual advice?

2. What was God’s very first created being if it wasn’t Jesus Christ?

3. I have many friends who are involved with the “deliverance movement,” where folks are said to be delivered from oppressive and demonic forces. According to the scripture I do not see anything in regard to this need in the church. Why is this taught, what are your thoughts?

4. I am not sure what is meant by “if you break one commandment you have broken them all. If that is the case, then what exactly is the significance of the 10 commandments?

How Can I Act as a Peacemaker During the Upcoming Election?

Episode 558 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

Show Notes

CoreChristianity.com

1. Can you help me understand how God’s Sovereignty fits into the story of King Saul? The Bible says that if he would have obeyed, then his kingdom would have been established forever. But instead God “sought out another.” Doesn’t that seem like an argument against God’s sovereignty? It looks like Saul could have gone either direction, but if I understand sovereignty right, shouldn’t Saul’s fall be set in stone by God’s decree?

2. What is “Christendom”? I see that word used but am not sure what others mean by it.

3. I am worried about conflict between family, friends, and church members after the election next month, especially since it has already been a stressful year. I know that Jesus says, “blessed are the peacemakers” in the Sermon on the Mount. How can I prepare myself now to be a peacemaker?

4. Does the bible have anything to say about out of body experiences?

Was the Doctrine of Hell Added to the Bible?

Episode 557 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

Show Notes

CoreChristianity.com

1. In 1 Samuel 21, David pretends to be insane in front of the king of Gath so he wouldn’t be recognized. Was this sinful since he was concealing the truth and trying to deceive the king with his actions? I’ve always thought he was just using his wit to get out of a bad situation, especially since he later claims in Psalms 34 and 56 that he was trusting God to rescue him in that moment. Is it possible for certain kinds of deception to not be rooted in sin but instead simply be shrewd and timely wisdom?

2. Is the bible only true in the original languages, and are subsequent translations tainted with error?

3. My cousin is 16 and her parents are going through a divorce. I believe now would be a good to time to reach out and start sharing with her about Jesus and the gospel, but I don’t know how to start. Any advice?

4. I have family members who are telling me that the doctrine of hell has been added to the bible, and that the original meaning of hell was about refinement and that all religions and spiritualities are mere attempts at trying to get to God. Any idea how to respond to this?

Must Christians Always Turn the Other Cheek?

Episode 556 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

Show Notes

CoreChristianity.com

1. How do I answer objections against the supposed violence in the Old Testament?

2. Do bishops and elders have to be married people, or can you be single and still be an elder or deacon in a church?

3. What would you say to a Christian who has been waiting years for an answer to a specific prayer about pain and suffering? I know about verses like Romans 12:12Psalm 27:14Isaiah 40:31, etc. I know Job probably suffered for years before his trials came to an end, but personally, it’s been 5 years and I am still waiting.

4. I ran across this question the other day: Are Christians always meant to be pacifists? Do we have the ability to defend ourselves from physical violence, or must we always turn the other cheek?

What the Book of Exodus Says About Abortion

Episode 555 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

Show Notes

CoreChristianity.com

1. What book of the Bible should I introduce to the youth group that I am a leader in?

2. I know as a Christian we should read the bible ourselves but what do you do when you’re scared that you will interpret it wrong? What do you do when you have trouble navigating your bible for answers as well?

3. Did Jesus mean for us to repeat the words of the Lord’s Prayer, or is the Lord’s Prayer merely a guideline for the things we ought to pray about?

4. I have encountered people who accuse Christians of not knowing their Bible when they are pro-life “because Exodus 21:22 only calls for a fine if a baby is aborted” — obviously they are mistaken in interpreting “miscarriage” as being anywhere equivalent with abortion. But my question is: in the Hebrew, is there grounds for some of these Bible translators to use the word “miscarriage” instead of something like “premature birth” — as translations like the NASB do?

Does God Punish People Through Disease?

Episode 553 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

Show Notes

CoreChristianity.com

1. Why did Jesus curse the fig tree?

2. Is Islam a false religion?

3. Is the 3rd-use of the law legitimate? It seems that if people have a good sense of justification by faith alone that the 3rd use of the law is not necessary.

4. If Moses’s sister Miriam received leprosy from God in the Old Testament, does that mean God can punish people with sicknesses today?

What Happens to Those Who Have Never Heard the Gospel?

Episode 552 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

Show Notes

CoreChristianity.com

1. Does John 9:2 teach that it is possible to sin in the womb?

2. Do denominations matter? I’m a Christian that trusts in Jesus alone but I can’t decide on a church because of so many different beliefs, which scares me because I’m worried about being misled.

3. Is it a sin to enjoy alcohol?

4. How can God be just when folks who have never heard about Jesus are not able to have the opportunity to respond to the gospel?

What Do I Do When My Pastor Acts Like a Political Pundit?

Episode 552 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

Show Notes

CoreChristianity.com

1. Reading 2 Timothy 2:15, how do I rightly “divide the word” and handle it rightly when it seems so easy to take scripture out of context?

2. I recently have been laid off due to COVID. I realize that God generally promises to save and redeem us and that that does not mean we will live successful and comfortable lives, but when I began the job I was laid off from, it seemed like it was a huge answer to prayer. I really felt that God had me where I was supposed to be, and now that is taken away. I am sure God cares for us in these times but is the only comfort we have that we will be with him in heaven? That is comforting, but it seems like we are on our own as we are looking for work. Do you have any thoughts on this?

3. How do you approach your pastor when he is shifting the message and turns it into a political ad or a hate speech towards people that doesn’t have the same belief as we Christians do?

4. Are Christians today required to pay tithes?

Does the Bible Teach that Women Should Not Hold Political Office?

Episode 551 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

Show Notes

CoreChristianity.com

1. Did the Pharisees reject Jesus because he did not meet what they were expecting or because they did not have the ability to see Him as the Son of God?

2. What happened to the Tree of Life in the garden after the Fall? Did it die, or just go away, what was its significance?

3. Can you go more in detail about Leviticus 19:28? I enjoy getting tattoos, am I sinning?

4. In Isaiah 3:12, it seems to say that God laments that women are ruling over Israel. If this is the case, does it mean that we should lament when women are appointed to positions of political power?

5. The Bible seems to speak of the Sabbath being on the 7th day, Saturday, so why do most Christians worship on Sunday?
